yep, I’m a dot com er now.
Do you like to make new year’s goals? Or do you find them to be more headache and stress than good? I like to have at least one simple, easy goal for the new year. For 2014 I have decided to focus on one, broad goal that I can break down into small projects. My New Year’s 2014 Goal is: to get more organized.
This has been a goal of mine since moving in, but life picked up and before I knew it I had been living in our apartment for 6 months and I still had yet to upack/organize my craft drawers (when we moved I literally shoved things into the drawers until they were so full, I could barely close them) and a million other areas of our home/life. I wasted so much time looking for things when they were hidden under layers of junk! Take a look at the few things I’ve tackled already (I still have quite a list of things needing organizing…like my closet and our spare room!)…..
^^ ORGANIZE THE CRAFT DRAWERS: it may not like that much of a difference, but it’s already a thousand times better ^^ORGANIZE MY RECEIPTS: I’ve been keeping all my old receipts in a folder with other important papers, but switched to a strictly-receipts folder. I empty out my wallet of receipts at the end of the month, every month. I keep them for one year, so around December 2014, I’ll throw out all my receipts from Dec 2013 and replace them with Dec 2014 ones.
^^ ORGANIZE MY SCHEDULE: this pertains to my social, work, and blogging schedule. I love and will probably still heavily use my phone/online calendar for scheduling and reminders. But I need to get back to the good old handwritten planners, if only to use my pretty gel pens more often 🙂^^ ORGANIZE FABRIC SCRAPS: I needed a place to keep all my little, useful fabric scraps. I found this old basket at my mom’s house, and spray painted it silver to match my silver wire rack. What are some of your New Years goals?
It turns out you an get $25 off your order at Minted if you refer or friend or if a friend refers you! I wish I’d known, as I already ordered my cards… 😦 But if you want to order through them, please let me know and I’ll send you a link so you can get $25 off $50 or more.
I’m in the process of hunting for a good christmas card layout. We’re celebrating our 3rd Christmas married and I think it’s time (we think it’s time) to send out our first round of Christmas cards! Here’s my favorite websites:
Sadly, though Costco is by far the best deal (50 cards & envelopes for $34.99) but they lack in unique style. Minted has the best designs, but also costs the most. Shutterfly is a good mix of the two. Does anyone know any coupon codes for a good Christmas Card site, at either Minted, Shutterfly, or another awesome company? PLEASE let me know!
It’s been a crazy few months, otherwise you know I’d love to design my own card. But it’s already Dec 4th so I need to get REAL and realize there’s no time for that this year! So far I like this one from Costco and this one from Minted . (yes all these cards have babies on them, and no I don’t have my own babies so put on this years’ cards… here’s to hoping there’ll be a Gene baby on next years’!)
I know, lots of phone pictures lately… I promise to break out the big boy lens soon. Today I went out to run some errands, specifically the stack-up-on-holiday-treats-at-trader-joes errand. I love their peppermint chocolate pretzels… so much so that I only bought one bag (self control).
I have a few projects to post about over these next few weeks, so be on the look out! Creating things is very therapeutic for me, so I have many projects lined up. My brother is also helping me create a better blog layout for the new year, so lots of new-ness to look forward to at foggy dress. 🙂
One of the reasons I really like living in Chino Hills is, of course, all the shopping. They have every kind of clothing/home decor/food shops a girl could ask for. I mean, they just opened up a brand new Daiso down the street!
Please tell me you’ve all been to a Daiso?! If the above photos aren’t adorbs enough for you to go, then consider all they have to offer: japanese hair ties, bows, dishes, towels, baggies, candies, socks, etc. Almost everything is $1.50! Super chic Japanese fashion & style at a super low cost.
Just look at these socks I found! <3<3<3
So, check out the store and let me know what you find.
My brother played this song on the piano, at my father’s funeral.
“My Shepherd will supply my need:
Jehovah is His Name;
In pastures fresh He makes me feed,
Beside the living stream.
He brings my wandering spirit back
When I forsake His ways,
And leads me, for His mercy’s sake,
In paths of truth and grace.
When I walk through the shades of death,
Thy presence is my stay;
A word of Thy supporting breath
Drives all my fears away.
Thy hand, in sight of all my foes,
Doth still my table spread;
My cup with blessings overflows,
Thine oil anoints my head.
The sure provisions of my God
Attend me all my days;
O may Thy house be my abode,
And all my work be praise!
There would I find a settled rest,
While others go and come;
No more a stranger, nor a guest,
But like a child at home.”
